What it is for
This form is used to apply for the New Zealand Citizen Family Relationship (subclass 461) visa, a temporary visa for members of the family unit of certain New Zealand citizens who are not themselves New Zealand citizens. The visa is valid for five years, permits unlimited travel to and from Australia, and does not require formal sponsorship or nomination.
Who completes it
The visa applicant. The form may be used by both a primary applicant and secondary applicants who are members of the primary applicant's family unit.
Information it collects (in general terms)
General categories include personal and passport details of the applicant and members of the family unit, details of the relationship to the relevant New Zealand citizen, contact and residential information, and a values/character declaration signed by each person aged 18 or over included in the form.
When it is used
Used when a non-New Zealand-citizen family member of an eligible New Zealand citizen (who holds or is eligible for a Special Category subclass 444 visa) wishes to obtain a temporary visa to live in Australia. Certain visa holders, such as criminal justice entry visa holders, are not eligible to apply.
