Application for Migration to Australia by a Child

What it is for

This is the departmental application form used to apply for a permanent Child visa so that a child can migrate to, or remain permanently in, Australia. It covers the Child (Migrant) and Child (Residence) visa classes, with the applicant indicating the relevant class on the form.

Who completes it

The child applicant lodges the application; where the child is under 16, a parent, relative or guardian may complete and sign it on the child's behalf. It is designed to be lodged together with a separate sponsorship form completed by the child's sponsor.

Information it collects (in general terms)

General categories include the child's personal and identity details, the visa class being sought, sponsorship and family relationship information, the intended Australian residential address, supporting-document and payment references, and signed declarations (including an Australian-values undertaking).

When it is used

Used when a child is being sponsored to migrate to Australia as a permanent resident, whether applying from outside Australia (as migration) or from within Australia (as permanent residence), and lodged as a paper application with the accompanying sponsorship form.
