As published by the program for 2025–26, in addition to the Department of Home Affairs criteria for each visa subclass.

Occupation on South Australia's Skilled Occupation List (around 395 occupations across 21 industry groups in 2025–26; roughly 305 were eligible for subclass 190, all for subclass 491).
An active EOI in SkillSelect with South Australia selected, under 45 years of age, Competent English, a valid skills assessment, and at least 65 points.
Onshore streams: skilled employment in SA, SA graduates, and outer-regional skilled employment.
Offshore stream: generally three years of skilled employment in the previous five (one year in the previous three for certain construction trades).
